Quoted from the site's "about" page:
"The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library. Its purposes include offering permanent access for researchers, historians, scholars, people with disabilities, and the general public to historical collections that exist in digital format. Founded in 1996 and located in the Presidio of San Francisco, the Archive has been receiving data donations from Alexa Internet and others. In late 1999, the organization started to grow to include more well-rounded collections. Now the Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages in our collections, and is working to provide specialized services relating to training, education, or adaptive reading or information access needs of blind or other persons with disabilities."

Robot.txt
There is a way that website owners can block search engines from indexing their site. But people can still find them because of a file that is used for blocking search engines. This knowledge is critical for you to know - to get around censorship! The file is called Robot.txt - where you can write different types of queries for a crawling bot. Here's how to find these websites which usually block search engines, but allow normal visitors. Step one: Navigate to Google Search and Type this without brackets (“robots.txt” “disallow:” filetype:txt) in the search box. Step Two: Hit enter and you will be shown with loads of Robots files placed in each website which have a disallow command written in them. Step Three: Now go to one of the result and select the slash part. It looks something like this “Disallow: /contactme/information/somethingelse.some extension such as php, asp, cfm, mspx, html. Step four: Copy any link from slash to the extension and paste it near the domain. An example - if you went to Microsoft website it would look like this in your browser: www.microsoft.com/contactme/information/somethingelse.mspx

You can visit hidden Websites with TOR. TOR ("http://tor.eff.org ) is widely used for anonymous browsing. Finding the Invisible Web
Simply think "databases" and keep your eyes wide shut! Be ready to discover covert ways to get around censorship! You can find searchable databases containing invisible web pages during routine searching in most general Web ("directories. Of noteworthy value in academic research are:
• Librarians' Internet Index
• Infomine
• Use Google and other search engines to locate searchable databases by searching a subject term and the word - database. If the database uses the word “database” in its own pages, you are likely to find it in Google. The word "database" is also useful in searching a topic in the Google Directory or the directory Yahoo!, because they sometimes use the term to describe searchable databases in their listings.
Examples:
plane crash database
languages database
toxic chemicals database
Remember, the Invisible Web exists. Understanding this will help your research get around censorship! In addition to what you find in search engine results (including Google Scholar ), and most web directories, there are other gold mines you have to search directly. This includes all of the licensed article, magazine, reference, news archives, and other research resources that libraries and some industries buy for those authorized to use them.
As part of your web search strategy, spend some time looking for databases in your field, topic, research or study. The contents of these database pages may not be freely available. Libraries and corporations buy the rights for their authorized users to view the contents of these site pages. If they appear free, it's because you are somehow authorized to search and read the contents (library card holder, company employee, etc.).
Inherent Ambiguity in the Invisible Web
It is very difficult to predict what sites, portions of sites or kinds of sites will or won't be part of the Invisible Web. There are several factors involved:
o Which databases replicate none of their dynamically generated pages in links and must be searched directly (totally invisible)?
o Which sites repeat some of their content in static pages (hybrid of visible and invisible in some combination)?
o Search engines can change their policies on what they include and exclude.
o Which replicate it all - visible in search engines if you construct a search matching terms in the page?
