Our Registered Historic Places...

CHATHAM County (home to Pooler, Georgia) has a wealth of historic places, many listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Chatham County is one the few areas in the Old South not destroyed by General Sherman's army during the civil war. Savannah was saved burning at the time of Sherman's March to the Sea, thanks to some quick thinking local leaders. We are truly blessed that any of these beautiful historic places remain today for our enjoyment. These sites offer us a fleeting glimpse into our county's struggle for a united nation.
In our modern world of computers and cell phones, these structures and monuments take us back to a simpler day in the old south. Enjoy visiting these unique and beautiful historic places in Chatham County and throughout the region.
