Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia

Maintain diesel, multi-fuel, and gasoline engines, both super charged and turbo charged. Determine the type and extent of repair required. Operate various vehicles including wreckers, tow-tractors, tractors and trailers and other heavy wheeled vehicles. Weld a variety of items including structures, sheet metal, pipers, boilers, valves and other comparable material, parts, equipment, and machinery.

1. My devotion to duty and superior knowledge of the many facts in the maintenance field not only resulted in the development of high standards for equipment, but also inspired all those I worked with to do the same. For this hard work and devotion, I received my 4th Army Commendation Medal.

Camp Liberty, Iraq

Overhauled or replaced carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, and tune-ups. Disassembled units and inspected parts for wear using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Reviewed work orders and discussed work with supervisors. Repaired and serviced air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems. Modified transmissions and gear reduction systems including those with torque converters.

2. I was handpicked over 17 other mechanics to provide maintenance support for a HETT platoon with systems. My dedication to duty and hard work keep the platoon operational readiness rate above 97% throughout the tour. For this I was awarded my 3rd Army Commendation Medal.

Fort Stewart, Georgia

Tore down and rebuilt hydraulic power-assist systems. Maintained and operated vehicles including forklifts, tow tractors, truck tractors and trailers, sweeper trucks, wreckers, buses, pickup trucks and sedans. Improvised replacement, assemble, repair, and troubleshooting techniques when standard procedures did not suffice.

3. During this time I provided recovery asset for over 30 fuel missions, drove over 1300 accident free miles, and delivered over 6 million gallons of fuel. For this I received The Army Driver’s Badge.

Camp Al Asad, Iraq

Assisted heavy mobile equipment mechanics in disassembling, repairing, and assembling major systems, components, and operating mechanisms. Adjusted and set parts in accordance with specifications identified in manufacturers' manuals. Repaired a variety of heavy mobile equipment which have mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems, controls, or features not commonly found on automobiles and ordinary transport trucks and buses.

4. I have the ability to motivate and the willingness to assist others at any time. As the platoon’s senior, enlisted mechanic, I constantly mentored my peers to strive to do the right thing. My professionalism allowed me to execute over 40 recovery missions while deployed. For this I received my 2nd Army Commendation Medal.

Examined vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions. Test drove various vehicles and test components/systems using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostics devices. Rebuilt parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks. Followed checklists to ensure all important parts were examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.

5. I was assigned as maintenance support for a Forward Logistics Element. I provided maintenance on 7 different types of equipment that total 45 vehicles. My hard work and around the clock work hours keep the fleet at a 93% readiness rate. For this I was awarded a Mechanic’s Badge.

Camp Cedar, Iraq

Rewired ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels. Installed and repaired accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers. Replaced and adjusted headlights. Loaded and unloaded materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Repaired manual and automatic transmissions.

6. I provided flawless maintenance support for over 132 pieces of equipment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Due to my hard work and dedication, my unit maintained a 90% operational readiness rating while in a combat environment. For this I received my 1st Army Commendation Medal.

Mechanic ~ 6/2002 to 3/2003

Fort Stewart, Georgia

Repaired and overhauled automobiles, buses, trucks, and other automotive vehicles. Repaired, relined, replaced, and adjusted brakes. Planned work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience. Tore down, repaired, and rebuilt faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages. Repaired radiator leaks. Repaired or replaced shock absorbers. Aligned vehicles' front ends.

7. Due to my managerial skills, I was able to be the tool room custodian. I maintained accountability of over $650,000 worth of tools. I worked 12 to 16 hour days, for 3 months to ensure that my tool room was at a high state of readiness for the quarterly inspection, which I received a 98%. For that I was awarded a Certificate of Achievement.
