Our Muslim Images Gallery

WE’VE recently discovered that many visitors to Pooler-Georgia-HOMEPAGE are seeking Muslim images. Responding to the interests of our site visitors, we decided to create a Web page filled with non-political/non-judgemental text and beautiful images of Muslim women, men, and children - that capture heritage of Islam reflections.

Heritage of Islam

Islam is currently, the second largest religion – with an estimated 1.4 billion Muslims in the world. A Muslim is an adherent of the religion of Islam. The word "Muslim" is the participle of the same verb of which "Islam" is the infinitive. The feminine form of 'Muslim' is Muslimah. Literally, the word means "one who submits to God."

Muslims believe there is only one God (Allah in Arabic). Muslims believe that Islam existed long before Muhammad and that the religion has evolved over time. Muslims pray five times a day. These five prayers are known as Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha. There is also a special Friday prayer, called Jumu'ah.

The Qur'an describes many Biblical prophets and messengers as Muslim: Adam, Noah, Moses and Jesus and his apostles. The Qur'an states that these men were Muslims because they submitted to God, upheld his values and preached his message. Thus, in Surah 3:52 of the Qur'an, Jesus’ disciples tell Jesus, "do thou bear witness that we are Muslims.”

Images of Muslim Women

Islamic texts, history and culture of the Muslim world define the complex relationship between women and Islam. Islamic law (Sharia) provides for differences between the roles, rights, and obligations of women and men. Varying degrees of rights with regards to marriage, divorce, civil rights, legal status, dress code, and education are given to women in Muslim-majority countries.

Scholars and other commentators vary as to whether these differences are unjust and whether they are a correct interpretation of religious imperatives. It is argued by liberal Muslims, Muslim feminists and others that more progressive interpretations of the role of women are perhaps, more just.
